Global spread of Meeting Centres continues to … Japan!

25 April professor Tomoyuki Yabuki and colleagues from  the Research and Training center for Dementia Care in Sendai in Japan visited our research group Care and Support in Dementia at VUmc in Amsterdam. The day before they visited the Amsterdam Meeting Centre De Pijp where coordinator Joke Bos informed them on the Meeting Centres Support Programme in practice.
Full of ideas and inspiration he returned to Japan, determined to set up the first Meeting Centre in Japan. We hope to follow-up on this exciting development soon!

MEETINGDEM is a European JPND funded project aimed to implement and evaluate the innovative Meeting Centers Support Programme (MCSP) for community dwelling people with dementia and their carers. The project in Italy was funded by the Ministry of Health (Milan) and the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) (Bologna), in Poland by the National Centre for Research and Development, in the United Kingdom by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and in the Netherlands by ZonMw.

The EU Joint Programme – Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JPND) is the largest global research initiative aimed at tackling the challenge of neurodegenerative diseases.
